The Devil Makes Three’s name sounds far more sinister than its songs. Sure, the group has its fair share of tunes about death and other themes fitting for the Halloween season, but it’s hard to get too dark and spooky with acoustic guitar, banjo and upright bass. Though the band hails from Brattleboro, VT, its sound would have felt at home in Dust Bowl-era middle-America. The trio’s latest release, I’m a Stranger Here, was produced by Buddy Miller and recorded at the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach's Nashville studio. The Devil Makes Three has a reputation for shining in a live setting, so expect polished renditions of songs tailor-made for Americana enthusiasts.
