Alt-country aficionados 6 String Drag ain’t a bunch of slugs. Even after a 15-or-so-year hiatus, the band managed to pull off a successful Kickstarter campaign this summer to record a collection of new songs and release several rarities (in the queue for this fall). Considering the group’s appearance at this year’s AthFest and a recent endorsement from Patterson Hood, it’s no wonder there’s a resurgence of interest in the Drag’s goings-on. The Carolina group first came to prominence in the mid-’90s and released its seminal (if under-appreciated) High Hat on the legendary Steve Earle’s E-Squared Records. Throw in the fact that frontman Kenny Roby has teamed up with Athenian Rob Keller (also of The Welfare Liners) throughout the band’s tenure, and you’ve got a must-see show.
