On Tuesday, Apr. 19, Ciné hosted a stellar goth, deathrock and post-punk night with Tears for the Dying, Secret Shame (Asheville) and Nox Novacula (Seattle). Tears for the Dying and Nox Novacula will both be featured on an upcoming deathrock compilation, Altar of Shadows, set to be released by Psychic Eye Records on World Goth Day (May 22).

This same night, Feral Joy, Angel Barn and Beat Up played at The Red Line.

Thompson Springs (Chicago), Todd Day Wait (MO) and Gold Park (Nashville) visited Flicker Theatre & Bar on Thursday, Apr. 21 for a night of good old-fashioned country, western and folk.

Over at the 40 Watt this night, The Wldlfe (Nashville) and Reeves performed at a benefit show organized by Breaking the Shackles, a local non-profit organization that raises awareness about modern slavery.

On Friday, Apr. 22, Southern Brewing Co. hosted Burning Love.Craft, a fundraiser for Love.Craft Athens, a local non-profit that serves adults with developmental disabilities through clay. In addition to Cicada Rhythm, the evening featured Nashville-based artist Joshua Hedley, who celebrated the release of a new album. The Love.Craft Band, consisting of the non-profits resident potters, shared their first original song that they wrote together.

That same night, Linqua Franqa celebrated the release of their new album, Bellringer, at the 40 Watt. Cassie Chantel, a winner of the 2021 Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year Award, opened.

The Air Condition and Wet Meadow performed a warm outdoor show at White Tiger on Saturday, Apr. 23. Featuring Eric Shea (guitar, vocals), Michael Greig Thomas (bass), Michael Bentley (pedal steel) and Ken Manring (drums), The Air Condition is a new “bootgaze” act that just released an EP earlier this month.

On Sunday, Apr. 24 at Buvez, Night Palace celebrated the long-awaited release of Diving Rings. The evening also featured “Lounge Dreams” by band member JoJo Glidewell and a set by Mia Joy (Chicago).

Over at Rabbit Hole Studios, we caught a set by Mynawa and a recording session.
