Sorry, no pics of Kevin Barnes performing in the nude (this time…), but we do have an exquisite little video clip from of Montreal’s recent visit to the Rolling Stone offices. Performing songs off the new album, Paralytic Stalks, of Montreal is presented here in its purest form: sans elaborate costuming, fancy lighting or pantomime shenanigans. And while the over-the-top staging has become synonymous with of Montreal, I sometimes feel like all the flash and silliness distracts or even detracts from the strength of Barnes’ songwriting. Here, finally, the music itself is front and center. What do you think?
