Drivin’ N Cryin’ is best known outside of Georgia for a brief yet fruitful mainstream run, anchored by the title track of the 1991 Island Records disc Fly Me Courageous. On the home front, the hard rockers remain a live staple two decades since their last taste of major label success. Per a 2015 interview with the AJC, the Georgia Music Hall of Famers have played 56 cities and small towns across the state. This selfless desire to play tiny dives, massive amphitheaters and everywhere in between finds Drivin’ N Cryin’ on the same DIY road populated by musicians who likely weren’t alive when the Atlanta rock vets formed in 1985.
