Writer-director Azazel Jacobs (Terri) channels his best Woody Allen in this modern, dark rom-dram capable of competing with any of that legend’s most recent movies. Acclaimed playwright Tracy Letts and Debra Winger star as an unhappily married couple who find their fire rekindled when they start cheating on their extramarital significant others with each other.
Letts is a brilliant asshole, a character trait he makes endearing as Michael; three-time Oscar nominee Winger proves she deserves better than to be constantly mistaken for Sean Young (it’s not only me, is it?). It’s no wonder why her Mary would appeal to a younger man (Aidan Gillen, “Game of Thrones”). All audiences need more mature, comedic looks at how love changes through the years.
