After years of being labeled a promising up-and-comer, Brooklyn trio Wet has finally arrived. While its roots are planted in indie rock, Wet’s subtle pop and R&B elements set the band apart from its peers and have gained it a wide and varied fanbase. Singer Kelly Zutrau has a soft but swaggering vocal delivery that’s equally effective on Wet’s emotional ballads and its bouncier pop tunes. In January, Wet’s debut, Don’t You, was released on Columbia Records. It’s a smart and fulfilling continuation of the group’s earlier sound, pushing it more into the alternative R&B realm and away from easy-listening alt-rock. There won’t be many more chances to see Wet in as intimate a venue as the Caledonia, so mark this show down as a must-see.
