“Art Mark” Opening Reception

Hosted by the Madison Artists Guild, “Art Mark” features the work of painter/musician/professor Art Rosenbaum and painter/photographer Margo Newmark Rosenbaum. The husband and wife duo met as newly established artists in New York City in 1965—Rosenbaum had an MFA from Columbia University under his belt, and Newman had a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute under hers. They later moved to Athens in 1976 when Art Rosenbaum accepted a teaching position at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, and the couple has been partnering on various projects exploring their mutual passion for traditional folk music, field research and artwork ever since. Art Rosenbaum and Margo Newmark Rosenbaum have shared a lifelong journey of collaboration, and “Art Mark” celebrates their undeniable commitments to their vision, community and each other. The exhibit, which will be on display through Sunday, Nov. 3, features paintings and drawings highlighting folk musicians and other staples of Southern identity. The opening takes place from 6-8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
