A 50-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run at about 2:20 a.m. today while crossing West Broad Street near the entrance to St. Mary’s Hospital, according to Athens-Clarke County police.
Another motorist found the victim, whose name has not been released, in the roadway and called police. She was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center, where she died.
The woman was struck by a westbound vehicle that may have a broken headlight. The vehicle left the scene after hitting the woman. No other information on the car or driver is available.
