Rocket Salon on Jackson Street downtown is closing up shop at the end of August and moving to Normaltown, owner Amber Hilton told Flagpole.
Hilton said a sewer line broke in an alley outside her business in February, forcing her to close for two weeks while repairs were made. She was unable to catch up and cannot afford to be downtown, she said.
Hilton will keep the Rocket Salon name and work as an independent contractor out of Normaltown Salons on Prince Avenue. All of her employees have found other jobs, including one, Brian, who is moving to Los Angeles, she said.
