Flagpole Premieres: Cortez Garza, ‘The Low Vibe’ Video

Athens singer-songwriter Cortez Garza plans to follow up his latest full-length, last year’s reflective, revealing The Low Vibe, with a new EP next month. In the meantime, he’s wrapping up a trilogy of videos for songs off the previous record by releasing a clip for The Low Vibe‘s twangy title track, which we’re happy to premiere today.

The video follows in the vein of clips for “Immortal”—which we premiered last March, and which subsequently won the 2018 Flagpole Athens Music Award for Best Music Video—and its predecessor, “No One Knows You Better.”

For all three videos, filmmaker Russell Oliver captured Garza on location in coastal Georgia, where “the rundown and desolate cities and waterfronts served as a more than appropriate visual backdrop to Garza’s music, which exudes both beauty and despair at once,” according to a press release.

Stream the video for “The Low Vibe,” which Garza calls “a Lefty Frizzell-inspired vintage-style country song with a cosmic cowboy touch,” below:
