The Lyndon House Arts Center is pleased to present new bodies of work by Jasmine Best and Kelly Taylor Mitchell, opening with a reception on Nov. 18 and remaining on view through Mar. 12. Each artist explores the idea of storytelling through memories. Best’s exhibition, entitled “Tell Me a Story,” includes textural narrative works that combine fabric, yarn and digital sewing to weave stories inspired by personal memories, Black female identity and folklore of Black Southern culture. She is a current MFA candidate at the Lamar Dodd School of Art. Mitchell is an artist and educator in Atlanta working as an assistant professor at Spelman College. Her current work approaches oral history and ancestral memory through textiles and handmade paper under the exhibition title of “Memory Worker.”
