AthFest Educates is hosting its 7th annual 5K and its 14th annual half marathon. The races benefit the nonprofit’s mission of enhancing music and arts education for local K-12 students. Both courses explore the very best that the Classic City has to offer through these community-building runs. Taking place over the course of two days, the 5K course takes participants through downtown Athens and the beautiful Boulevard neighborhood area on Saturday, Oct. 21 beginning at 2:30 p.m. The annual AthHalf marathon will take place the very next day on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 a.m. with a course that runs through Athens’ historic districts, downtown and the UGA campus. Live Athens bands will play along the half marathon course for the participants as well as friends and family who have come to cheer them on from the sidelines. Although registration for the event has closed due to a completely sold-out two days, the Athens community is still encouraged to come and cheer on all participants during the event as well as experience the live music and festivities offered.
