Composed by Phil Kline in 1992, “Unsilent Night” is a 45-minute, multi-track soundscape that puts a unique spin on the idea of holiday caroling. Over the years, the tradition of parading through the streets while playing this electronic work has become an international phenomenon, with more than 50 cities hosting performances. Everyone is invited to participate by bringing a boombox, mp3 player or phone pre-loaded with one of the piece’s four tracks, which can be downloaded in advance at cantaloupemusic.com. Once the group is assembled, everyone will push play at the same time and stroll through the streets of downtown.
