Queens of Hip Hop, Vol. 6

Since its formation in 2017, local fanzine Volumes has been instrumental in helping to both chronicle and organize Athens’ flourishing hip-hop scene. Under the Volumes Presents umbrella, founder Sam Lipkin has thrown a series of parties at various downtown venues, most notably the Georgia Theatre Rooftop, which hosts another installment of the femme-centric Queens of Hip Hop showcase Aug. 20. Reflecting a broader scene coalescence that has occurred over the past couple of years, Tuesday’s show not only features exciting local hip-hop talent in the form of rappers Cassie Chantel, L.B. and Don P, but also sets from punk band Nihilist Cheerleader and avant-garde composer Goddess Complex.
