Charlotte, NC-based artist Susan McAlister’s latest exhibition, “Field_Forest_Flora,” is a collection of paintings and drawings that reflect histories of place and the relationship between humans and the natural world. Inspired by the abstract expressionist movement, her wild landscapes grow from layers of paint, graphite, dirt and wax in a process that symbolizes preserving moments of time in memory. Dedicated to displaying artwork that inspires viewers to appreciate both natural and built environments, the Circle Gallery is located inside of the UGA College of Environment and Design in the Jackson Street Building, and is open to the public on weekdays from 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
