Beto Cacao is an organizer and activist known for his work with the Athens Immigrant Rights Coalition and for co-founding the annual LatinxFest. He is also a guitarist and songwriter, and on Friday, he will mark the release of a new album, Undocorridos—produced by Grammy-winning artist and folklorist Art Rosenbaum—with a show at The Globe. Playing in the traditional Mexican corrido style, Cacao spotlights the plight of the undocumented immigrant with eight sparse, Spanish-language songs paired with English introductions explaining each tune. The songs are poignant (“Somos Corridos”) and darkly funny (“DWH [Driving While Hispanic]”) and showcase Cacao’s skilled guitar work and passionate vocal style.
