Athens’ newest partner galleries host concurrent opening receptions for new solo exhibitions: Andy Giannakakis at Tif Sigfrids and Yanique Norman at Howard’s. “The Gypsy” shares paintings by Giannakakis, a current Los Angeles resident who received a BFA from the Lamar Dodd School of Art and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Born in Jamaica and raised in New York City, Norman relocated to Atlanta in 2005 and received a BFA from Georgia State University and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her multimedia work contemplates themes of alienation, post-colonial identity and the black psychological body. Both shows will remain on view through November.
