Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year Award

Presented by Classic City Rotary, the Vic Chesnutt Songwriter of the Year Award recognizes Athens’ best songwriters while raising funds for Nuçi’s Space and the Rotary’s service projects. The five finalists for the second annual award span the local-music spectrum and include Andrew Rieger of Elf Power; hip-hop artist Mariah Parker, aka Linqua Franqa; the Broken String Band’s Sean Stephansen; Kyky Renee Knight of Harlot Party; and B-52s icon Cindy Wilson. Each of the songwriters was nominated based on a recorded work released in 2017. All except Wilson will perform Thursday. Additional performers include Love Tractor’s Armistead Wellford with his group Armistead And, plus Claire Campbell, Drew Beskin and the winner of last year’s award, Andrew Huang.
