Don’t look now, but we’re just about five weeks out from Christmas. If the holiday spirit hasn’t kicked in quite yet, head to The Classic Center on Sunday, when new-age icons Mannheim Steamroller will dose unsuspecting Athenians with a big ol’ hit of seasonal cheer. Led by composer Chip Davis, the long-running collective has explored soft prog, light jazz and modern classical sounds, though it’s primarily known for its baroque takes on holiday classics, having released no fewer than two dozen Christmas albums during its four decades of existence. Not even Santa himself could put you in a more festive mood.
Chip Davis' show features Mannheim Steamroller Christmas classics along with a selection of compositions from his Fresh Aire series. See Calendar Pick on p. 20.
