Gimme Hendrix

Released way back in May 1967, the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s debut album, Are You Experienced, provided a psychedelic blueprint for decades of guitar-rock to come. Plenty of modern-day Hendrix tribute acts pay homage to the songwriter and his innovative playing style, but few do Jimi justice like Athens’ own Gimme Hendrix. Led by skilled frontman Eric Keaton, the winners of multiple Flagpole Athens Music Awards will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Are You Experienced by performing the album in its entirety Friday evening on the Georgia Theatre Rooftop. Expect to hear a few other classic Hendrix tunes sprinkled throughout, too.
