Based on Truman Capote’s classic novella, the Town & Gown Players’ production brings the glamour of 1940s New York City to the stage of Athens Community Theatre. Fred, played by UGA theater and political science student Tom von Dohlen, is an aspiring writer who lives in the same Upper East Side brownstone as young socialite Holly Golightly, played by T&G regular Kelly Doyle-Mace. Unlike the popular film set in the ’60s and starring Audrey Hepburn, Fred and Holly do not become romantically involved in this stage adaptation written by Richard Greenberg and directed by Ashley Laramore. Instead, Fred comes into his own identity as Holly’s whirlwind story unfolds.
