Kick off Memorial Day weekend with a performance from Athens songwriter and art-rock legend Vic Varney (the Method Actors, Go Van Go), who will play Hendershot’s Friday at 8 p.m. Varney lived in New York for many years, but has made Athens his home once again, and is preparing the release of an upcoming album, recorded in Nashville with former collaborator David LaBruyere (John Mayer, Vigilantes of Love). This night’s show will feature Varney playing a solo set first, followed by Don Chambers and his band, then a set by Varney and percussionist Tony Oscar. This is a special gig indeed, so place this at the front of your consideration.
