The annual Athens Wine Weekend warms up on Friday with Amuse-Bouche (5:30 p.m., $30), a reception featuring treats prepared by Northeast Georgia chefs paired alongside the perfect wines. Saturday’s Grand Tasting (1 p.m., $30) offers hundreds of wines from all around the world. A silent auction, seminars led by sommeliers and a certification course for attendees pursuing careers in wine will be held Friday and Saturday. Festivities close with a Sparkling Wine Sunday Brunch (11 a.m., $35). A portion of proceeds will benefit the Classic Center Cultural Foundation, which offers student scholarships in addition to supporting performing, visual and culinary arts programming throughout the year.
