J.R. Crickets Is Open, Koyla Is Closed, and More Restaurant News

The Athens location of Atlanta’s J.R. Crickets is open on Hawthorne Avenue, in what has been a Dickey’s, Big Daddy Mike’s and Allen’s (post-Normaltown). The place focuses on wings but also does burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, ribs and more, plus it has a full bar.

The presence of a sign announcing “Koyla is no longer available” and the fact that the lights appear to be off every day leads me to conclude that Koyla, on South Milledge Avenue, is closed. Pour one out. Its mechanics never quite came together, but the food was reliably delicious.

There’s a sign up at the Kumquat Mae space in the Arbor building on Mitchell Bridge Road announcing that something called Caborita Cantina and Grill is opening up there in the near future. It has a placeholder website for the moment.

LRG Provisions is now open six nights a week plus brunch, making it less of a pop-up and more of an actual restaurant.
