Sweetie Pie by Savie (previously covered here in Flagpole) will open on Whitehall Road on Monday. Regular hours will be Tuesday through Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (after hours by appointment).
Athens Science Café is doing an event on the science of ice cream July 9 at 7 p.m. at Broad 9A in the Tracy Street Warehouses. Ben & Jerry’s is supplying the eats for an ice cream social after the science part of the evening.
Next Saturday, July 11, at 2 p.m., Hugh Acheson will discuss his new cookbook, The Broad Fork: Recipes for the Wide World of Vegetables and Fruit, and sign copies at the Athens-Clarke County Library. Admission is free.
Charlie Noble’s is closed “for the summer.” A sign on the gate of Yummy Pho, which is likewise shut up tight, says it will reopen July 27. Rashe’s Cuisine is testing out being open on Wednesdays beginning July 22 (but may close Sundays).
