Two years ago, I moved from a town (Athens, GA) that has the most bars per capita of any place in the U.S., and I moved to a town (Trinidad, CO) that has the most legal pot shops per capita of any place in the U.S. On hot summer mornings, Athens smells like vomit from the bars, and Athens’ main revenue source is taxes on liquor sales and DUIs. Trinidad smells like marijuana from the grow rooms and is undergoing an economic renaissance based on pot tax revenue, and there have been no pot-related arrests since legalization.
I like Trinidad better.
