On behalf of the T-SPLOST Citizens Advisory Committee, we would like to thank the voters of Athens-Clarke County for overwhelmingly voting yes to T-SPLOST on Nov. 7. We worked diligently over many months as a committee to create the list of projects, and it is extremely gratifying to see such a positive electoral response; we feel that our hard work truly paid off.
We would also like to thank all the dedicated advocates and volunteers who worked on the campaign, as well as Athens-Clarke County staff and elected officials who worked with us to create a successful project list. Many of us are new to this kind of committee work within ACC, and we can say without a doubt that our experience with each other, as well as with ACC staff, was informative, professional and enjoyable.
We take very seriously the trust that the voters have put in T-SPLOST. As a committee, we will stay involved with citizen oversight as these projects are implemented in the coming months and years.
From transit and trails projects to airport and road improvements and bicycle/pedestrian-focused efforts and everything in between, we know there is still work to be done to ensure that that the money raised from this T-SPLOST is well spent. We are committed to making this T-SPLOST work for all of Athens and improving connectivity, safety and opportunity across our county.
