Athens Power Rankings for the Week of Sept. 22

Welcome to Athens Power Rankings. In the spirit of sports rating systems, through painstaking analysis, we rank the top movers and shakers in the Classic City each week. Who’s hot? Who’s not? Find out below.

1. Sony Michel

Another UGA running back tops the list this week, on the strength of a 155-yard game against lowly Troy that saw the terrifically-named true freshman score three touchdowns. YAY SPORTSBALL.

2. Futurebirds

The Athens-based alt-country band teamed up with Jittery Joe’s for a new coffee blend. We tried it. It’s nice. Check this week’s Flagpole for more.

3. UGA police

The campus cops earn a nod for their swift reaction to an anonymous threat posted on social media site Yik Yak last week.

4. Automatic Pizza

Soon to be serving up slices—and booze—in Normaltown.

5. Mo Lutz

The local promoter has teamed up with the ACC government for a series of family-friendly outdoor shows at Memorial Park. The first one’s this weekend. See this week’s paper for more.
