Today is the last day to register to vote in the May 20 election or, if you’ve moved, to change your address.
You can do so by clicking here. You can also go to the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections, located on West Washington Street next to City Hall.
The May 20 election will decided whether Mayor Nancy Denson gets another four years or Tim Denson will take over. There are also contested races for ACC Commission districts 1, 3 and 5. Also May 20: Republican and Democratic primaries for statewide and federal races, including governor, Congress and U.S. Senate.
Early voting starts a week from today.
Now that you’re registered, it’s time to decide who to vote for. Meet the local candidates today at the Ray MacNair Community Forum at East Friendship Baptist Church, 480 Arch Street. A meet-and-greet at 6 p.m. will be followed by a panel discussion an hour later.
