Neighborhood activist (and sometimes Flagpole contributor) Melissa Link is also running to replace retiring Commissioner George Maxwell in District 3.
Link has long been an outspoken fixture at the podium at commission meetings carrying the torch for progressive causes like fighting against the Selig development and for the Buena Vista Historic District. She knows her stuff, although not everybody is a fan of her tactics.
Former planning commissioner Herb Gilmore announced his candidacy this morning.
So, yeah, this is going to be a fun race.
