Credit Card Info Hacked at Melting Point

Have you bought food or drinks at the Melting Point, the Hoyt House Restaurant or the Foundry Park Spa in the past month? If so, check your credit card statement.

The Foundry Park Inn & Spa—which includes the above three establishments—put out word this afternoon that an overseas hacker may have used a virus to acquire patrons’ credit and debit card information from one of its servers. Their IT consultants and Athens-Clarke police are investigating. They don’t believe an employee was involved in the theft.

Tickets and hotel stays are handled through a separate system, so they wouldn’t have been affected, according to marketing manager Jason Harwell, who added that Foundry Park’s IT guys are taking steps to improve security.

Anyone who believes they were a victim should contact their credit card company and Det. Taylor Bell at 706-613-3888 ext. 294 or taylor.bell@athensclarkecounty.com. Questions for Foundry Park should be directed to Angie Olson at 706-433-1927.
