Atlanta singer-songwriter Faye Webster, as Flagpole reported last week, is known for popping up in unexpected places, like a Wilco show at the Classic Center. When Webster played the Georgia Theatre on Thursday, she had an unexpected guest of her own—Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider.
Stereogum reported that Strider “threw out the first pitch,” but don’t worry, Braves fans, the fireballer didn’t stress the injured elbow that’s kept him out almost all season. Strider tossed a ball underhand to Webster, who caught it in a catcher’s crouch.
Strider is a noted indie rock fan who plays the Strokes in the clubhouse and curated a vinyl 7-inch giveaway before a game last month featuring Atlanta bands Trash Panda, Dinner Time and Lunar Vacation.
Webster, meanwhile, is a lifelong baseball fan who has written songs about having a crush on MVP outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. and her disappointment when the Braves traded All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel.
