Flagpole Premieres: WANDA and Jianna Justice Pity Party Videos


With his Pity Party series, local videographer Taylor Chicoine has brought the Athens DIY spirit to the web, filming local and touring bands in a house-show setting and posting the clips online for all to see. In addition to the videos, Chicoine has expanded the Pity Party brand to include home recording and more.

Today we’re pleased to premiere not one but two spankin’ new Pity Party videos. The first, from Athens surf-pop group WANDA, is a striking version of the group’s “Brass Passion”:

The second is “nightswimming,” from singer-songwriter Jianna Justice. Though it’s not a cover, the emotive, minimalist tune is indebted—and a worthy successor—to the R.E.M. song of the same name:
