Yes, That Was a Monsoon Song in That Toyota Commercial

Another day, another Athens band soundtracking a car commercial

Astute Athenian viewers probably noticed a familiar song coming out of the ol’ talky-box during the ad break following last night’s Super Bowl halftime show. The tune was “Ride A’Rolla,” the title track from local group Monsoon‘s 2015 debut.

The commercial, which appears to be a regional spot, has been airing for a couple weeks now, but I’ve yet to come across a decent link to the video, so you’ll have to rely on the above tweet for proof.

Monsoon’s Sienna Chandler was excited on Facebook:

Is it acceptable to say I can’t even? Thank you Beyoncé and Bruno Mars for opening for my very special Super Bowl 50 Toyota USA Corolla commercial!!!! Excuse me while I go scream!

Monsoon opens for the Drive-By Truckers on night one of that band’s Homecoming series this Thursday at the 40 Watt Club.
