Flagpole Premieres: Klark Sound, “Ballad for Alex”

Today, Klark Sound is releasing a new track called “Ballad for Alex” via Nashville-based label Acrophase Records. As the songwriting outlet of multi-instrumentalist and composer Clark Hamilton, Klark Sound currently performs live as a six-piece to create a full-bodied sound echoing the blissed-out personality of ’60s and ’70s baroque pop and folk rock. Based in Atlanta, Hamilton is currently affiliated with Tweed Recording here in Athens and has been steadily building up Klark Sound’s presence in both cities.

“It’s about the fleeting feelings of attachment that intimacy sometimes brings,” says Hamilton about the new track mixed by Anthony Aparro and mastered by Charlie Chastain. “Often there are strings that become tangled with closeness, and this song reminds oneself to unravel the knot of attachment with self-reflection and accept that it is possible to have a close connection with a stranger if only for a moment.”

To accompany the single’s release, John Roche of Atlanta-based film production group Juice Factory has created a kaleidoscopic video to soak up below.

If a ghost sighting has gotten you into the holiday spirit, be sure to catch Klark Sound at a good ol’ fashioned Halloween Spectacular with Well Kept and Easy Honey (Charleston, SC) at the 40 Watt Club on Thursday, Oct. 27.
