Flagpole Premieres: Shehehe, “Summer Camp Rant” Video

Athens punk rock trio Shehehe has just released a new video for “Summer Camp Rant,” a single off of the band’s latest album, Pet Songs, which was released July 31 through Say 10 Records. Leisurely flipping through vinyl records, the video loosely tells the story of the song using album art and musical references. A chorus celebrating “summer crushes” lands on the likes of The Bangles, Blondie and Joan Jett, while a line about Hi-C fruit punch synchs up with a pause on the dearly missed experimental pop duo Grape Soda.

“’Summer Camp Rant’ is about being a kid in South Florida in the ‘80s and spending your days of summer at camp. Going on field trips, having innocent crushes, eating too much candy, doing all the things and feeling all the feelings of being young—not necessarily caring about wrong or right, just about having fun,” says drummer Jason Fusco. “Margate, Florida in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s was a magical place. This song is meant to nostalgically take you back to that place and time, when things seemed simple and exciting!”
