The headline kind of says it, right? The Grill, one of the fixtures of downtown Athens for a loooong time, is back open again, after months of rumors that boiled down to either, “It’ll be opening soon” or, “It’s closing forever.” Turns out the first category was accurate. Fries, feta, burgers and shakes are back on the agenda. The restaurant is doing take-out and dine-in, although, as usual, I’m going to advise you against the latter.
Watkinsville is getting a new coffee shop, Joe and Sam’s, in the former Keba location on Hog Mountain Road. Serving Jittery Joe’s coffee, it’s sort of an expansion of the regular Jittery Joe’s locations, with breakfast and lunch as well as coffee and dessert. The cafe will have a drive-thru and will offer food, including soup, sandwiches and salads, plus biscuits for breakfast. It should open later this month.
