Pretty Boy Is Opening Next Week In the Bottleworks

Pretty Boy, a project by Kenny Nguyen (ex-The Expat, the Side Hustle, recently on “Top Chef”) and the folks at Seabear Oyster Bar, where Nguyen previously worked, is about to officially begin taking reservations for its opening Tuesday, Sept. 17 and is running some soft-open stuff this week. Occupying the former Viva! Argentine in the Bottleworks, it’ll serve Vietnamese-influenced food and takes its name from what Nguyen’s grandmother called him.

The menu includes small plates including fried chicken skins with green chili salt and corn braised in coconut milk, a noodle section (chicken, beef and vegetarian pho plus peanut noodles with shrimp) and bigger plates (banh xeo, thin pancakes with shrimp, pork belly, bean sprouts and more; grilled ribeye with bonito flakes and fried egg; stir-fried baby clams). The drinks include a rice lager from Atlanta’s Three Taverns, canned sake and cocktails like the Bird’s Eye View, which resembles a margarita (tequila, salt) but adds Thai basil, lime and hot honey made with bird’s eye chilis.

After two years of anticipation and a few different potential locations, it’s exciting to see the place ready to take off.
