Hot Chicken Downtown, Burgers at Cafe Racer and More Food News

Scoville Hot Chicken.

Scoville Hot Chicken, a second location of a restaurant whose original is in Sandy Springs, is open downtown at the corner of Broad and Wall streets, in the space that was most recently Wings Over Athens. The menu is exceedingly simple: hot chicken sandwiches, fries, cole slaw and soda. That’s it.

Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream, a franchise that flash freezes your ice cream order with liquid nitrogen and has been featured on “Shark Tank,” has replaced Cinnaholic on Broad downtown.

The West Washington Street bar Max is closed for real this time, as is the adjoining Uncle Ernie’s.

Diablo’s Southwest Grill on Epps Bridge Parkway, near Old Navy and such, has closed. Doughby’s in Watkinsville is closed temporarily but will reopen.

Cafe Racer in Crawford, known for excellent biscuits and donuts served out of a tiny drive-through, has added burgers to its offerings on Thursday nights. So far, they haven’t been available for pre-order online with everything else, so you’ll have to keep an eye on the restaurant’s social media for reminders.

The Milledge Avenue OG Taco Stand has been renovated and reopened, knowing exactly what to touch and what to leave exactly the same as it’s been since 1977.

Big City Bread is offering take-out dinner again, on Friday nights from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Agua Linda’s food truck, serving outside the Prince Avenue location while it’s renovated and added on to, is up and running.
