The Cottage Sexual Assault Center & Children’s Advocacy Center presents The Vagina Monologues, a 1996 play by the playwright and activist V (formerly known as Eve Ensler). The play explores sexuality, reproduction and sexual violence in the form of monologues by women of various backgrounds. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards furthering The Cottage’s goal of providing free services to survivors of sexual violence and child abuse in the Athens area. The V-Day campaign was launched around the production, which helps to stage local productions across the nation to raise money for organizations fighting to end domestic violence against women. Tracy Brown will make her directorial debut with the local production, which will be performed on three nights.
