GMEA Jazz Jams

In conjunction with the group’s annual conference, which takes place at the Classic Center this week, members of the Georgia Music Educators Association will blow off steam while blowing their horns—or banging their drums, or tickling their ivories, or… you get it—Thursday and Friday evenings. The Jazz Jam pops up at The Foundry on Jan. 23 and moves to Hendershot’s Coffee Bar the following night, with trumpeter and Georgia State University coordinator of jazz studies Gordon Vernick leading the charge. Vernick, who also hosts the popular “Jazz Insights” podcast, has been instrumental in helping to spark Atlanta’s recent jazz renaissance.
