The Dodd Galleries at UGA’s Lamar Dodd School of Art host an opening reception for three new exhibitions on Friday evening. Using the Fool character-type to understand cultural shifts, Mac Balentine explores queer identity as acts of resistance and celebration in “The Fool-ectomy.” Alex McClay and Sam Regal’s exhibition “Turbulent Femme || toward a radical future” contemplates feminine selfhood through sculpture, projections and sound, while “Carol John: Legion Pool” reflects on the storied local leisure spot through bright paintings. Activities include a photo booth based on movie scenes, a live DJ and an artist book petting zoo in the school’s art library.
