Project Safe’s 18th annual Groovy Nights ’70s vs. ’80s lip sync battle presents an evening of costume contests, henna tattoos, a photo booth, food and dancing with DJ Mahogany. Nine teams will take the stage to compete by “singing” the most beloved classics of the decades, with advance voting available online. Proceeds from Saturday’s event will assist the local nonprofit in its mission to end domestic violence through prevention and education programs, crisis intervention, systems change advocacy and ongoing supportive services for survivors and their children. Last year alone, Project Safe answered 2,773 crisis hotline calls and offered services to 1,227 survivors.
