Filthy Friends, Dressy Bessy

The rare rock and roll supergroup that truly deserves the title, Portland, OR five-piece Filthy Friends features members of Sleater-Kinney, R.E.M. and The Minus 5, with Corin Tucker and Peter Buck serving as the band’s dynamic front-duo. The group followed its 2017 debut, Invitation, with Emerald Valley, out now on Kill Rock Stars. Blending jangly alt-pop with elastic twang and fuzzed-out rock, the charged LP finds the band rediscovering its working-class roots. The Friends canceled a planned Athens date back in early 2018 after bassist Scott McCaughey suffered a stroke, but the musician is on the mend, and the band is back on the road, with Colorado-based Elephant 6 associates Dressy Bessy in tow.
