Eating food is awesome, but so is talking about it and listening to other smart people talk about it. You’ll have the chance to do that on Friday, Oct. 5 from 10:30 a.m.–noon at UGA’s Richard B. Russell Special Collections Libraries, where the UGA Press and the Oxford, MS-based Southern Foodways Alliance are hosting “Food, Culture and Place,” a public discussion of foodways in the American South. Atlanta Journal-Constitution writer and Gravy podcast contributor Rosalind Bentley will moderate a panel that includes local writer and editor Andre Gallant, author and SFA managing editor Sara Camp Milam, the Mississippi Museum of Art’s Julian Rankin and Thomas Ward, history chair at Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL.
