Against Me!, Iron Reagan, Bitemarks

Since hitting the scene with 2002’s untamable folk-punk missive Reinventing Axl Rose, Gainesville, FL band Against Me! has developed into one of modern rock’s most dynamic forces. The group’s exploratory 2016 album, Shape Shift With Me, found singer-songwriter Laura Jane Grace reflecting on what it’s like to be a trans woman in an often hostile cultural climate. Grace, who both anchors and energizes the band’s killer live show, recently announced the formation of a side project, Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers, which will release a genre-spanning debut, Bought to Rot, in November. With former bassist Andrew Seward having returned to the fold, Against Me! hits Athens on Friday.
