Athens Face/Off

CalendarPick-FaceOff.jpg

After a four-year hiatus following its founder’s move to New York, Athens Face/Off returned in 2016 thanks largely to the efforts of Flagpole Arts Editor Jessica Smith. The event, which challenges motley groups of local musicians to form new bands and create 10 minutes of original music, has enjoyed two successful iterations since its comeback. The third will feature members of just about every notable act in town, including Dead Neighbors, Hot Fudge, The Hernies, Family and Friends, Art Contest, Hope for Agoldensummer, Dream Culture, Juan de Fuca, Nihilist Cheerleader, Eureka California and more. Proceeds benefit local music nonprofits, and each set is an adventure. Face/Off is an Athens treasure.
