Dream Culture Album Release Show

After whetting Athens’ appetite with a solid pair of EPs, local band Dream Culture will finally release its debut full-length, Heat Rises, Friday. The record’s 12 trippy tracks are chock-full of sonic and spiritual references to Pink Floyd, Animal Collective, Tame Impala, The Walkmen and other psychedelic and indie-rock forebears. There’s a certain looseness to the album that places it, if not squarely in, at least squarely adjacent to the jam-band world, though the group’s approach is a tad too stagy for that scene. The White Rabbit Collective shares Friday’s 40 Watt bill, as do Tennessee band The Holifields and locals The Weldons.
