In addition to Hip’s collection of antique and artist-made items, the shop hosts exhibitions that are celebrated on First Fridays. This month features sculptures by Leslie Lawson and illustrations by Michael McGill. Lawson, who opened Hip last year with her husband, moved from Athens to Holland in ’87, where she attended the Free Academy of Fine Art and ran an art school of her own for a decade in The Hague. Her sculptures range from pieces in plaster, clay and found objects to wall-bound works constructed from industrial wood waste. Sandy Springs artist McGill creates cartoon drawings that depict his favorite interests: music, history, wine and nightlife.
